North-West Power Generation Company Limited was formed on August 28, 2007. After the formation of the Company, within a short span of time with a limited manpower, the Company has made an remarkable contribution to meet up the ever increasing demand of electricity. In the meantime, the Company has implemented seven power plants having total generation capacity of 3057 MW. It is expected that within 2025, NWPGCL will be able to generate power over 10,000 MW. The Company intends to be the country’s best power producer in the long run.
Because of patriotism, integrity, efficiency and competency of employees, NWPGCL has achieved awards and certificates at home and abroad. With a strong commitment to the quality, environment, occupational health and safety, NWPGCL obtained ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 & ISO 45001:2018 certificates in 2018. In the inauguration of Power & Energy Week 2018 on behalf of NWPGCL, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) received the Award from the Hon'ble Prime Minister, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh for the Fastest Growing Power Generation Organization of Bangladesh among all public sector utilities.
